Get ready for a fun and exciting race just for kids! 

Spike’s Sprint offers age-based sprints for kids 10U, 8U, 6U, and 4U with distances tailored to each group. 

All participants will receive a bib, a plush bulldog with a custom Grand Blue Mile event shirt, and the chance to finish on the iconic World Record Way. 

Plus, after crossing the finish line, they’ll have a front-row seat to cheer on their favorite mascot in the thrilling Mascot Madness race. It’s a perfect way to kick off the Grand Blue Mile festivities for the whole family!

And the fun doesn’t stop there—with a separate registration, kids can also take on the Youth Grand Blue Mile later in the evening and run alongside family and friends! Be sure to register your child for both races so they can experience the full night of fun.

Race Details

Event Start Time:

5:45 PM

Start Location:

Participants should begin corralling at their designated start lines (see map below) 10 minutes prior to race time. Please report to your start line by 5:35 PM.

Distances by Age Group:

• 4 & Under: Approximately 100 meters
• 6 & Under: Approximately 145 meters
• 8 & Under: Approximately 200 meters
• 10 & Under: Approximately 300 meters

Parent/Guardian Participation:

Parents or guardians are welcome to run alongside participants in the 4 & Under and 6 & Under age groups.

Start Lines:

Participants should report directly to their designated start lines. Volunteers will be holding signs for each age group (4 & Under, 6 & Under, etc.) to help guide participants to the correct location. Look for volunteers in bright blue Grand Blue Mile shirts for assistance.

Parent/Guardian Pick-Up:

After crossing the finish line near 13th St. and Grand Ave., participants will be escorted through the finish chute to receive their finisher items (plush bulldog, Powerade, etc.). From there, they will be directed to the designated Spike’s Sprint Pick-Up Tent (see map below).

Parents/guardians should plan to wait in this tent area to reunite with their child. A security staff member will be present to help monitor the area and ensure a safe environment.

Optional Bib Tear-Off:

Each child’s race bib will include a “Parent/Guardian” tear-off strip with a matching bib number. While not required, parents/guardians are welcome to use this as an added way to identify their child at pick-up.

Finish Line:

The finish line is located near 13th St. and Grand Ave., in front of Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield.
